Sinead O’Connor is an artist that is often thought of as a one hit wonder thanks to cover of an obscure Prince song, ‘Nothing Compares 2 U.’ That, coupled with her antics on and off stage, have arguably taken the spotlight off of what a great record this really is. An essential album of the ‘90s, ‘I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got’ was critically acclaimed at the time.

Opening with the epic ‘Feel So Different,’ the album continues into ‘I Am Stretched on Your Grave,’ a 17th century poem set to an almost trip hop type beat. ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ is a song that is relevant to this very day. Of course there’s ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ and the title track, an acapella song that closes the album in quite contrast to the heavy production of the opening track.
