#459 Kid Cudi, 'Man on the Moon: The End of the Day' (2009)

The debut album by American rapper, Kid Cudi, is a concept record. Narrated by rapper, Common, the album is separated into four acts, telling the story of an aspiring anxiety-riddled musician journeying through life to eventual success.

It’s a relatively long album, clocking in at just under an hour and I felt it could have been cut down a little to make a more concise record. It’s been called the musical cousin of Kanye West’s ‘808s & Heartbreak.’ West executively produced the album and wrote a couple of tracks. My favourite songs all seem to be nightmares; ‘Day ‘n’ Nite (Nightmare),’ ‘Alive (Nightmare),’ and ‘Pursuit Of Happiness (Nightmare).’
