Jerry Lee Lewis’s career-spanning anthology boxset. Known as “The Killer,” the nickname which lent itself to the punny title. The boxset features 42 songs, including a staggering 27 charting hits. From the genre-defining ‘Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin On’ and ‘Great Balls Of Fire,’ to his multiple country hits, this boxset is definitely all Killer.

Lewis is an interesting character. He was married 7 times, including the controversially to his 13 year old cousin when he was 22. He was once arrested outside one-time label mate, Elvis’s house for allegedly plotting to shoot him. He released over 40 albums, surely at least one more worthy than an anthology boxset. Jerry Lee Lewis changed the way people perceived piano, previously having been known as an instrument in Jazz and Classic music. His frenetic piano playing and showmanship was a major influence on one Reginald Kenneth Dwight, later known as Elton John, who modelled his playing and stage act on Lewis. Besides for the aforementioned, I also enjoyed his covers of ‘Over The Rainbow’ and ‘Chantilly Lace.’ I much preferred his rock ‘n roll to his country tracks. He has a dozen gold records and has won 4 Grammys. Lewis is still actively touring the world and playing shows at 85 years old (or at least was before COVID hit).
