#338 Brian Eno, 'Another Green World' (1975)

The first album entry for the mad genius producer, Brian Eno (or simply Eno as he is credited on this record), third album on the list so far that he was involed in (he produced the previous entries by Talking Heads and Roxy Music). Of the 14 tracks, only 5 feature vocals. The rest is an aural rollercoaster of top-notch production and musicianship. On most of the songs, Eno is responsible for multiple instruments, but there are also contributions from Phil Collins on the drums, as well Velvet Underground’s John Cale, King Crimson’s Robert Fripp and the insane bass playing of Percy Jones.

The album is departure from his first two records, which were mostly rock albums. This album seamlessly flits between Art Rock, Ambient, Electronic and even the Avant Garde. It’s a real journey. My favourite track was the album opener, ‘Sky Saw.’ Collins’s drumming paired with Jones’s bass playing engulfed in Eno’s production just make for a perfect song.
