#455 Bo Diddley, 'Bo Diddley/Go Bo Diddley' (1958)

Two albums for the price of one and another entry from Chess Records. Bo Diddley’s first and second albums packed with some of his most endearing songs, but more than that, riddled with his signature beat. That’s right, signature beat. Bo Diddley pioneered a beat that has been used in literally thousands of songs. Think about George Michael’s ‘Faith,’ Buddy Holly’s ‘Not Fade Away,’ Tom Petty’s ‘American Girl,’ Bruce Springsteen’s ‘She’s The One,’ Bowie’s ‘Panic In Detroit,’ Toto’s ‘Roseanna,’ etc. It goes on and on. The man literally created the blueprint for so many hits.

These albums are filled with his beat, his amazing guitar playing (most likely played on his cigar box guitar) and his classic tunes. Favourites include ‘I’m A Man’ and ‘Who Do You Love.’
