Wow! It just goes to show that sometimes it’s all about time and place with music. I initially listened to this album yesterday morning at about 9am. I just didn’t connect with it. Listening to it again in a darkened room late at night, and it totally makes sense. I can just imagine being in the thick of a most pit, drenched in sweat and cheap beer in early 1980s L.A. In that context, this album hits all the right notes.

The debut record of Black Flag which finally came to be with the hiring of new vocalist (and now legendary writer and commentator), Henry Rollins. This record combines social commentary, teenage angst (a stark contrast from the teenage symphonies two records ago) & humour. Bands like IDLES, Rage Against The Machine & Pussy Riot would have taken a lot of cues from these guys.
